Story 2 || 50 words:

Author's Note: For this set of microfictions, I chose to write my own versions of Why the Rabbit's Eyes are Big. The original story tells of how a Rabbit was unhappy with his small eyes and complained to God. God sent him to return with six blackbird, and he did. Then, God sent him to return with rattlesnake teeth, and the Rabbit killed his neighbor, the rattlesnake, for his teeth. Upon his return to God, God catches him by his hind feet and throws him about the house, stretching out his eyes. For my first microfiction of 2 sentences, I omitted much of the detail from the original story. I left out details of the Rabbit's endeavors to retrieve blackbird and rattlesnake teeth. Instead, I opted to shorten the story significantly and simply tell why his eyes are now big. For the second microfiction of 50 words, I was able to capture more of the detail of the original story, such as the Rabbit's exploits to bring God the items that were requested. This story illustrates the Rabbit's strong desire for bigger eyes as he was willing to risk his life before a rattlesnake since he disliked his small and beady eyes so much. This second story is my favorite of the two, as it captures the emotions of the Rabbit and its dislike for its small eyes. There is also noticeably more detail behind the story, allowing readers to easily follow along to learn about the fate of the Rabbit.
