Time Strategies
Throughout my collegiate career, I have found it increasingly difficult to balance my school and leisure activities into my schedule. Most of this difficulty can be attributed to my increasing workload as a senior engineering student. Obviously, time management becomes a key tool in order to get anything done on time. Here are two articles that discuss time management strategies that I have already implemented or plan to include in my future regime.
The Psychology of Checklists by Lauren Marchese:
This blog discusses the use of checklists to ensure goals are met and keep track of progress. As with all my coursework, I regularly update important due dates, meeting times, or announcements in an organized calendar. This helps serve as a checklist to ensure that I accomplish everything in a timely fashion. This blog has taught me to make more detailed checklists, especially for complex projects, to keep track of progress and ensure that tasks are completed on time. This will be especially helpful to me in my Capstone class this semester for my team's project.
The Myth of Too Busy by Tim Grahl:
This article discusses the importance of prioritizing our time. This article helped reflect on how to prioritize time for important manners such as coursework, instead of playing Minecraft for 6 hours. I'm not saying I condone playing Minecraft for 6 hours instead of doing homework, but sometimes it happens. I've been there. Time prioritization is crucial, especially with an online class such as this one. As I have learned from previous online classes, time management becomes very important to ensure that deadlines are met and assignments are done since there are no scheduled class times to constantly remind you.

Hi Jackie!
ReplyDeleteI am not surprised time management is sometimes challenging for you as an engineering major! I think engineers have the most rigorous education of pretty much any occupation, so good luck pushing through for one more semester! What is the capstone project like for engineers? Do you have to design or build something? I hope everything goes well and that you have a super fun graduation at the end of this!
